Civil Rights Lawyer Wins Foot Soldier In The Sand Award

Civil rights lawyer Daniel W. Uhlfelder, of Daniel W. Uhlfelder, P.A. in Santa Rosa Beach, has received the NAACP’s “Foot Soldier in the Sand” Award for his work in a number of discrimination cases and on behalf of the NAACP.

Holland & Knight partner Marilyn J. Holifield has been named one of “America’s Top Lawyers” in labor and employment litigation by Black Enterprise magazine.

Orlando-based Akerman Senterfitt plans to merge with 22-lawyer labor and employment boutique Muller Mintz, with offices in Miami and Orlando. The deal will give the 375-lawyer Akerman firm a labor and employment practice group with more than 50 lawyers.

Tampa-based Carlton Fields is ranked sixth among 159 firms surveyed for American Lawyer Magazine’s 2003 midlevel associate satisfaction survey. The survey measures job satisfaction among third- and fourth-year associates.

Former Attorney General Janet Reno has taken a volunteer appointment at the University of Miami law school’s Center for Ethics and Public Service, where she is conducting lectures and training seminars on ethics in the practice of criminal law. Reno says she is focused on issues surrounding wrongful convictions.
