Signs that your marriage might be in trouble

On Behalf of Daniel W. Uhlfelder, P.A. | Jul 1, 2022 | Family Law

Every couple has its ups and downs, especially those who have been together for many years or even decades. In fact, how a couple overcomes obstacles is a sign of how strong the relationship is.

There have been some issues in your own relationship recently and you’re struggling to work them out. Could divorce be on the cards? Outlined below are some common signs that your marriage might be in trouble.

Secretive behavior

Is your partner spending a lot of time on their phone or laptop? Do they quickly shut these items down when you come into the room? Perhaps your spouse has started being cagey about their finances or what they get up to each day. Dishonesty and secretiveness are some of the earliest warning signs that your marriage may be in trouble.

You no longer enjoy each other’s company

While both you and your spouse are extremely busy, you have generally always made a point of spending some time together each week. In recent months, traditional weekly outings have become a thing of the past. You can’t remember the last time you spent quality time together. When you no longer enjoy spending time together as a couple, this can be a tricky issue to fix, and it could be a sign that a divorce is imminent.

Protect your legal rights

If you’ve tried everything to get your marriage back on track, to no avail, then it might be time to start thinking about your legal options. Whether you initiate a divorce or your spouse does, you need to achieve a settlement that is equitable. Having legal guidance behind you will ensure that you don’t sacrifice your rights.
